I am currently a graduate student in the Materials Science program at the University of California, San Diego working on scanning probe characterization of defects and surfaces in GaN-based materials. My focus has been to understand the fundamental electrostatic interactions between a probe tip and a surface with a (somewhat) generalized charge distribution.
